Fishin' with Mimi

Collin had a blast on his fishing trip to Oak Mountain with Mimi last week. He did catch any fish but it was still a big adventure for him. He talked for days about the he saw turtle and the fish he could see swimming in the water. He loved every minute of it and will remember it forever.

A few highlights

Homecoming 2010

Molly was escorted by Sam a friend and neighbor .
And lastly a picture of my new stove. I almost cried tears of joy when the old stove was hauled away today. The old stove was one I just settled for when we built this house. I never liked it, it didn't bake evenly and the handle broke off about 6 months ago. Tonight I made turkey chili and baked the kids some brownies . It cooked great and cleaned up so well. I love it!

Busy Busy

The Moon house is moving ahead at full speed and I don't see it slowing down any time soon. The school projects have started and here is Parker with his Indian shoebox. He did pretty well on this and took it serious. He even got it finished in time to turn in a day early. He has a better outlook on school now that we have his class switched. He's such a smart talented boy I hate to see him unhappy.
With fall being my favorite time of year I get the itch to cook and try new things. I am learning and testing out new skills like making pie crust and an all homemade apple pie. These things come totally natural to some people but it not something I thought was worth the extra effort and time till now. In an effort to eat healthy and feed my family less preservatives and chemicals I have found a new interest in cooking from scratch. Not that apple pie is a part of my daily diet but it is a great treat in moderation. I was so proud how well it turned out. My very first pie crust was so yummy and not near as difficult as i thought it would be.

I mentioned to Brian the desire to paint the upstairs hall bathroom. He said well go get the paint and really it was that simple. I headed to Lowe's to get paint and shortly after dinner Brian was painting. He did a great job and knocked out the whole job in one night. It looks so great and I am so glad to have it done. Each time I pass by it makes me smile even if there are someones dirty socks thrown on the floor. It lacks some decorative wall stuff but I will find it in time.
This is what happens when you give a toddler a Hershey kiss on a warm day. Big huge mess but he sure was happy the whole way home. It's only chocolate I promise!

Living with these monkeys sometimes will make you laugh even if it's at yourself! I'm glad it's the weekend and I hope it's a good one for you too.

Moon kids + Fall = Football

Some people can not believe I have turned in a football loving Mom. When my kids started playing football I started learning all about the game. This weekend I found myself talking to my brother and Dad about various football games we had watched on Saturday. We discussed which teams were a disappointment and which teams made great improvements and came away with a win.

Around here we don't miss a Bama game and I am as into the game as much as the guys. My kids helped me develop this new love and there is nothing like seeing my babies cheering and playing for the Saints. I am now one of those football Moms who claps, cheers and sometimes even boos over a bad call. Football season is in full swing and my Saints and Bama gear is getting alot of wear.

#5 turns 5!

Collin Humphrey our 5th born child turned 5 years old today. Wow! Time really has gone by so fast with him. I know I say that alot. I guess when you spend most the days washing peoples dirty socks and playing referee the days just get away from you too fast.
His idea of a good birthday bash included swimming at Mimi's and Popi's house with Sponge Bob decorations,  plates, cupcakes, some ice cream and sodas. Mix in some great presents and it was a great success in his eyes. We got a good laugh over the amount of Toy Story toys he received. He loves his first fishing rod, the Woody doll, his big Buzz figure, the new r/c car and best of all his new Dsi.Collin had a great birthday and just loves being 5!

School Updates

Here we are closing in on a month in school. So far so good I guess you could say. The bus driver situation is alot better. We love that he picks up at 7:15 verses the 6:40 pick up from years past. And the bullying on the bus seems some better also.

The freshman Logan is loving High School. And gives the lunch room food a thumbs up in comparison to the previous school. He is do very great with his first lecture class and has aced the first two test. He is doing a good job taking notes and studying . His Honors English class is going pretty good except for the one summer reading book he decided to not read and he failed the pop quiz. But I believe he learned his lesson on that one.

Macy is doing great in 8th grade. As if she isn't busy enough she ran in the election for Student Government Association Historian/Photographer . The election consisted of teacher recommendations, a campaign speech and interview. I am proud to say she won! I am stressing to her the importance of being organized and time management so she can juggle everything. Her classes are going well and she is trying out a new online course in Spanish as her elective this year. Cheerleading is in full swing and she is loving getting to see her friends everyday!

Molly's 5th grade school year at the brand new Margaret School is moving along. All her teachers are new to her and some of her very good friends are still back at the old school. There is some adjusting going on. While she loves the nice gym and other perks she misses the familiar surrounding and group of teachers. Her grades are pretty good and we are having to get back into the habit of studying with her.

Parker is liking the 4th grade thus far. He has a favorite teacher Mr. Wilder the math and science teacher. His grades are great and he has made a new friend. I am hopeful this will be a good school year for him.

The little boys and I are getting along just wonderful. I have gotten alot of projects done since school started. Several closets have been cleaned out, garage cleaned, rooms moved around . I have worked on some crafts and spent time doing some cooking. Collin and Hudson play really well together and can be a big help.
