15? Already?
Fifteen years ago I was way too excited to sleep. The uncertainty of when Logan would be born was over and I knew April 26,1996 would be his birthday.
Logan's pregnancy was difficult for me. I was so sick that ever meal was met with nausea and "tossing of cookies". I had bad headaches, high blood pressure, and fainting spells from the blood pressure going from high to low. I was dehydrated to the point my lips were severely chapped and cracked .I also suffered from a bleeding esophagus . My Doctor was not taking anything about my case serious and I was one sick puppy to say the least.
I wasn't scared of life with a baby because life with Logan inside of me had been scary enough. Knowing that an end was insight was such a relief.
My labor was induced early that morning but after being in labor all day I had not really progressed at all. The doctor had already told our families that I was looking like a C section case. Brian and I were to the point we didn't care as long as he was born safe. Around 5 pm the doctor made the call and it was off to the operating room we went. I remember hearing Logan cry that first cry. After seeing his perfect round little face I immediately knew that he was worth all the suffering I had endured.
The last 15 years have been a learning experience to say the least. With your first born you read all the books and just sort of wing your way through hoping you don't mess up too much along the way.
You hold your breath as you let go of them to take their first step with your arms out in case they fall. You run along side a bicycle as you coach them to pedal and let go hoping for the best. Before you know it you are talking about ACT scores and driving permit test. You wonder how it all went by so fast.
To my oldest Son,
I love you so much. You are so smart and witty. You also have your own special knack of driving me crazy. I think back to all the last minute late night school projects we have shared. All the soccer, football, wrestling and play performances I have watched. The many times you have made me laugh, shown me your compassion for others and wowed me with your intelligence. I am so proud to be your Mom!
Happy birthday 15th birthday Logan!
